Feel Good Friday: Song of the Week-Trainor & Legend Duet

This week’s Feel Good Friday is about Meghan Trainor’s song Like I’m Gonna Lose You ft. John Legend.

Many have heard this song in the top 40 radio for a few weeks now, but I will have to be honest in saying I have not recognized her voice because her harmony with Legend made me believe it was a new artist’s debut single. It can be appreciated that this song has a more soulful vibe as compared to her up-beat top hit All About that Bass. This song gives me pleasure in knowing that Trainor can adapt her voice to a different sound and gives her the privilege to truly be called an artist.

The harmony between the two makes me feel the sorrow and pain in trying to reach out to loved ones as if I am begging to prove I love them.

In an interview with Meghan she stated:

It’s about when you have those nightmares where you’re loved one passes away, and you wake up…You check on them, and they’re still therr, and you realize hat you’re not promised tomorrow, so you’re going to love them like you’re losing them.-MT

My favorite lyrics include:

In a blink of an eye
Just a whisper of smoke
You could lose eveything
The truth is you never know

These lyrics state how soon life can change and that one should appreciate and enjoy every moment, even the bad moments because it is a time that makes you feel human.

Fun fact: Trainor wrote this song a year ago, but was declined from being added to her first album. Legend is on her management team and he felt the song was worthy of being released so much that he wanted to be a part of its success.
